Georgia, UK aim to strengthen business and commercial ties

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21

The Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed an agreement of cooperation today which aims to strengthen business and commercial ties between the Georgian and British businesses, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Ambassador of Georgia Sophie Katsarava shared this news on her official Twitter account.

She said that boosting trade and economic relations is a priority of both Georgia and the UK.

"We are particularly delighted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK remains the top investor in Georgia and the Embassy looks forward to seeing more projects and success stories in future", she said.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to $237.8 million in the second quarter of 2020 and the United Kingdom was the top foreign investor country on the list with $58.9 million.

The shares of FDI by major foreign direct investor countries were distributed as follows: UK (24.8 percent), Netherlands (22.4 percent), and Turkey (13.3 percent).
