The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $323.6 million from January through September of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

In the reporting period, Uzbekistan imported Turkmen-made products for a total of $225.9 million.

Meanwhile, the volume of exports from Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan was $97.8 million from January through September of this year.

As reported, 5.6 million liters of gasoline were exported from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan from January through August of this year. Also, Turkmen gasoline of the ECO-93 brand was first sold on Uzbek Commodity Exchange.

The trade turnover between the two countries is increasing. Thus, earlier representatives of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in the fall of this year in order to further expand trade and economic ties and resolve a number of issues.

As earlier Uzbek MFA told Trend, several events and projects in the field of railway and road cargo transportation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are planned to be held and implemented in the coming years.

The MFA noted that the new projects will serve to further enhance bilateral cooperation.

"It is planned to carry out work on the modernization of roads and railways, further implementation of the project to create China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan transport route, " said the ministry.
