Iran imported 19.3 million tons of goods worth $20 billion during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20-October 21, 2020), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.
According to Mirashrafi, Iran imported $5.1 billion worth of goods from China and $4.7 billion worth from the UAE over the same period.
The director general added that Iran imported $2.2 billion worth of goods from Turkey, $1.2 billion worth from India and $1 billion worth from Germany in 7 months.
“About 8.13 million tons of imported goods were essential products,” he said.
Mirashrafi stressed that Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to 85 million tons worth about $38.3 billion.
The director general noted Iran's foreign trade turnover decreased by 23 percent in terms of value and 5.17 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Mirashrafi emphasized foreign trade turnover increased by 11 percent in terms of value compared to the 6th month of current Iranian year (August 22-September 21).
