Trend:

Chairman of Iran-Switzerland Joint Chamber of Commerce Sharif Nezam-Mafi predicted that if Joe Biden wins the US Presidential election, there will be a significant change in the Swiss humanitarian financial channel for Iran, Trend reports via ILNA.

"In the short term, the US election result does not affect Iran's trade. The US two parties do not all agree on various points, including trade and working with Iran,” he said adding that “Of course, it can be said that they are not fundamentally different because they have many common policies, but if Mr. Biden wins, we will see the positive commercial impact in the second half of the year.”

He went on to say that Joe Biden's presidency will be to some extent in Iran's interest, especially in the case of facilitating the import of raw materials, seeds, grains and medicine.

"Although humanitarian goods are not subject to sanctions, the sanctions on Iran's banks, especially those against the CBI, affect the import of those items," Nezam-Mafi said.

“My prediction is that if the Biden government comes to power, it will release the blocked Iranian money quickly and deposit it in a financial mechanism like the Swiss financial channel so that Iran can meet its grain and medicine needs,” he said.

“The potential victory of Joe Biden will have a significant impact on the Swiss humanitarian financial channel,” he noted. “This means that Iran's blocked money in South Korea, Japan, China and Iraq will be released more quickly.”

Iran`s money is blocked in countries to which it exported oil, such as; China, South Korea and India, or electricity exports such as Iraq, he said.

He went on to say that if Trump is elected, he will follow the past four years` policies as far as Iran goes.
