Portugal’s share in Azerbaijan’s total import volume increases

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Portugal amounted to $139.2 million from January through September 2020, which is $224.6 million less than in the same period of last year, Trend reports on Nov. 5 with reference to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

The import of products from Portugal to Azerbaijan decreased from $9.9 million to $8.5 million from January through September 2020 on an annualized basis.

The share of Portugal in Azerbaijan's total import volume amounted to 0.11 percent of the total volume from January through September 2020 compared to 0.1 percent in the same period of 2019.

At the same time, export from Azerbaijan to Portugal from January through September 2020 amounted to $130.8 million, while a year earlier this figure was $353.9 million.

Thus, the share of Portugal in the total export volume of Azerbaijan decreased from 2.38 percent to 1.24 percent.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Portugal for the reporting period remained positive, amounting to $122.3 million.

In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $18.4 billion from January through September 2020, which is 27.1 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on an annualized basis decreased by 38.6 percent but nevertheless remained positive, amounting to $2.7 billion.
