Kazakhstan increases imports from South Korea year-on-year

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and South Korea amounted to $4.36 billion over the first eight months of 2020, compared to $4.30 billion during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The share of South Korea in the total value of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover stood at 7.9 percent during the reporting period, compared to 6.8 percent during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export to South Korea amounted to $743.8 million over the period from January through August 2020, compared to $1.9 billion during the same period of 2019.

South Korea’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s export amounted to 2.3 percent during the reporting period of 2020 compared to 5.1 percent during the same period of 2019.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from South Korea amounted to nearly $3.6 billion over the reporting period, compared to $2.3 billion during the same period of 2019.

South Korea’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s import amounted to 15.2 percent during the reporting period of 2020 compared to 9.3 percent during the same period of 2019.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $55.6 billion over the period from January through August 2020 which indicates a decrease from $63.1 billion during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $31.8 billion during the reporting period of 2020 ($37.7 billion in the same period of 2019), whereas imports amounted to $23.7 billion ($25.3 billion in 2019).

During the reporting period, the main articles of Kazakhstan and South Korea trade turnover were food products, agricultural products, as well as products of the chemical industry.
