More than $19 million worth of agricultural products were exported from Turkmenistan to Russia and the CIS countries from January through October of this year, Trend reports with reference to “Turkmenistan: Zolotoy Vek” (Turkmenistan: Golden Age).

Mainly melons, grapes and apples were exported, the report says.

Also, Turkmenistan increased the total export of tomatoes to 16,700 tons in 2020.

Thus, in order to grow agricultural products year-round, entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan have organized more than 100 greenhouse farms with a total area of more than 356 hectares. Meanwhile, next year at least 150 more greenhouses with a total area of 1,300 hectares may open, which will allow growing tens of thousands of tons of vegetables, citrus fruits, and fruit and berry crops.

As reported, in addition to exporting agricultural products, Turkmenistan also imports them.

As earlier Russian Ministry of Agriculture told Trend, the trade turnover increased almost 2 times in 1H2020, compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to $87 million.

"The parties are systematically working to increase the volume and expand the range of agricultural products and food to the markets of both countries," the Ministry added.
