Review of innovation activities of enterprises in Georgia

In 2019, 3 percent of enterprises introduced new or significantly improved goods on the market, while the share of enterprises, that introduced new or significantly improved service during this period, was also 3.2 percent in Georgia, Trend reports citing Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

Innovations of goods and services in most cases were originally developed by the enterprises (accordingly 58.2 percent and 41.7 percent).

In other cases, they received support from other enterprises or institutions. 51.9 percent of implemented innovations were new to enterprises, while 48.1 percent were new to the market.

Acquisition of machinery, equipment, and software (19.3 percent) has a relatively higher share in enterprise involvement in innovation activities.

A high percentage of innovation activity was detected in design (14.6 percent). Training for innovative activities (13.1 percent), market introduction of innovations (12.8 percent) and in-house Research and Development (12.5 percent) also have a high share.
