Russian Zarubezhneft oil and gas company eyeing co-op with Kazakhstan

Russian Zarubezhneft oil and gas company expressed interest in investing in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector, Head of the Department Of International Cooperation at Russian Energy Ministry Alexey Gospodarev said, Trend reports citing the Russian Ministry of Energy.

The topic was discussed following the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan on Fuel and Energy Complex Issues,

In Gospodarev’s words, currently, the company is interested in actively searching for investment projects in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector, including cooperation with the country’s KazMunayGas National Company.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.

Following the end of the meeting, the successful cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the oil and gas field and in the electric power industry was highlighted.

Zarubezhneft is a Russian oil and gas company of strategic importance acting for the state’s benefit, consistently developing and possessing a rich history and unique experience of foreign economic activity.

National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) is the Kazakhstan operator for exploration, production, refining, and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state interests in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
