Turkmenistan and Russia’s Tatarstan supported the idea of opening a trading house of Turkmenistan in Kazan, Taliya Minullina, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency told Trend.
She noted that the opening of the trade house of Turkmenistan in Kazan will develop mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Russia’s Tatarstan.
"We will strengthen business ties and contribute to strengthening inter-country cooperation. Among the promising directions for developing the export of Tatarstan products to Turkmenistan is the organization of Halal food supplies, " she said.
Minullina also noted that more than 160 countries are Tatarstan's trade partners, and Turkmenistan is among those with whom Tatarstan actively develops cooperation.
"Moreover, in this difficult time for everyone, caused by COVID-19 we increased trade," she said.
Thus, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia’s Tatarstan amounted to more than $66 million in 1H2020, which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year.
For the most part, Tatarstan supplied Turkmenistan with land transport vehicles, rubber and products made from them, nuclear reactors, boilers, equipment, and mechanical devices, fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin, and products of their decomposition.
At the same time, plastics and products made from them, as well as vegetables and some edible root and tubers were exported from Turkmenistan to Tatarstan most.
