Prices of Kazakh-exported goods increase year-on-year

The prices of goods imported by Kazakhstan have increased by 3.3 percent in Sept. 2020 as compared to Dec. 2019, and by 1.1 percent as compared by Aug. 2020, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Of the imported products, prices on vegetables increased by 8.8 percent, fruits and nuts by 6.6 percent, vegetable oil by 6.2 percent, sugar by 5.4 percent, coffee by 1.7 percent, tea by 1 , 4 percent, poultry meat by 0.7 percent.

In turn, import prices of cocoa decreased by 7.7 percent, tobacco by 5.8 percent, rice by 4.7 percent.

Import prices for footwear increased by 5.8 percent, paper by 3.7 percent, textiles by 2.1 percent, timber by 1.4 percent, pharmaceuticals by 0.7 percent, machinery, equipment and vehicles by 0.2 percent. Prices on leather were 1 percent lower, construction materials - 0.5 percent lower.

In turn, the export prices decreased by 8.6 percent compared to Dec. 2019, and increased by 3.4 percent compared to Aug. 2020.

Thus, export prices increased for zinc by 13.4 percent, lead by 8.9 percent, non-ferrous and ferrous metal ores by 8.5 percent, copper by 6.4 percent, oil by 3.1 percent, ferroalloys by 1.6 percent, whereas prices of coal decreased by 6.3 percent.

The increase in prices was also noted on cereals by 15.3 percent, wheat by 0.4 percent. Prices of rice dropped by 2.1 percent, wool by 0.4 percent, barley by 0.1 percent.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $55.6 billion over the period from January through August 2020 which indicates a decrease from $63.1 billion during the same period of 2019.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $31.8 billion during the reporting period of 2020 ($37.7 billion in the same period of 2019), whereas imports amounted to $23.7 billion ($25.3 billion in 2019).
