Iran to submit draft of the Seventh Development Plan

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 13

Trend:

Iran's Expediency Council is to submit a policy draft of the Seventh Development Plan for the next five years to the parliament in December, said the head of infrastructure and production commission in the Expediency Council.

"The following draft was prepared by seven committees in the infrastructure commission and reviewed by experts in 18 sessions," said Mohammad Saeedikia, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"The result of expert's reviews in these committees are currently being drafted separately that would be submitted to the parliament for final approval. The reviews should be approved by the head of the Expediency Council (President Rouhani) and the Supreme Leader and would be announced to heads of three powers," he added.

According to Saeedikia the efforts in drafting policies were to create executive capacities. Based on expert's reviews only 50 percent of previous development plans were implemented in the country. Drafting the Seventh Development Plan should consider the country's realities and the need for changes.

"Implementing change in the country's bureaucratic system is an inevitable necessity to act better than previous plans," he noted.

Iran's Sixth Development Plan (2016 – 2021) was set out the goals and objectives to be achieved by the country over five years. In a notable change to previous plans, the necessary economic, legal, and policy directives were to provide transparency and clarity of the information to ensure Iran remains an attractive foreign investment destination.
