Azerbaijan announces ten-month wheat import performance

Azerbaijan imported wheat worth over $243.4 million from January through October 2020, which is 17.4 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the SCC, Azerbaijan imported 1.14 million tons of wheat, which is 16.7 percent less than in January-October 2019. The share of wheat in total imports of Azerbaijan is 2.78 percent, the report said.

In the first ten months of this year, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover made up more than $21 billion, having decreased by 25.7 percent year on year.

"In the structure of foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $12.2 billion, having dropped by 27.3 percent on an annualized basis. The share of exports decreased by 1.24 percentage points over the year, to 58.25 percent of the total foreign trade turnover," the report said.

“Imports for the reporting period amounted to $8.77 billion, down by 23.5 percent. The share of imports in the total trade turnover increased by 1.24 percentage points, up to 41.75 percent of the total,” said the report.
