Georgia, Austria to deepen co-op and contribute to strengthening business ties

Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Georgia Thomas Mühlmann, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to Machavariani, the parties discussed bilateral relations, including the current situation in the trade and economic sphere and further prospects for cooperation.

Machavariani informed the ambassador about the current macroeconomic situation in the country, the available financial resources to combat the pandemic, including the mobilization of funds allocated by donors.

Machavariani thanked for the support that Austria has been providing for many years in the promotion of energy, environment, tourism, agriculture, energy, education and culture in Georgia.

In turn, Mühlmann confirmed the importance of partnership with Georgia and noted that Austria will continue to support the priority areas for the country. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope that, despite the global pandemic, both countries will be able to further deepen cooperation and contribute to strengthening business ties.

Meanwhile, agreements have been signed between Georgia and the Republic of Austria, which include cooperation in the spheres of economy, air transport, promotion and protection of investments, prevention of double taxation.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the Georgian-Austrian economic cooperation is dynamically developing, the interest of Austrian companies in the economic and investment potential of Georgia is growing.
