Iran's exports via customs of Astara County increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

The value of Iran’s exports through customs of Astara County in Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 50 percent during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Astara Customs Office Karim Rasouli said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Rasouli stressed that 620,000 tons of goods worth $350 million have been exported through the customs of Astara County over the reporting period.

The director-general added that the exported goods through Astara customs were mainly agricultural products, including kiwifruit, apples, eggplants and etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan,” he said.

According to Rasouli, moreover, 209,000 tons of goods worth $120 million were imported to Iran through Astara customs over 8 months.

The director-general noted that these goods were mainly wood materials, chemicals, and raw materials for factories.

A total of 135,000 tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port of Iran. About 98,000 tons of the goods were loaded for export, and 37,000 tons were unloaded for import.
