Azerbaijan reveals data on export and import of cotton over 10M2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 25

The volume of foreign trade turnover of cotton made up $118.1 million from January through October 2020, which is 5.5 percent or $6.9 million less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

“The exports of cotton from the country over 10 months of this year totaled $113.1 million, having decreased by 5.6 percent or $ 6.7 million on an annualized basis. The share of this product in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 0.71 to 0.92 percent,” said the SCC’s report.

“At the same time, the country’s cotton imports decreased over the year by $231,000 or 4.4 percent, totaling 5 million manat. The share of cotton in the total imports of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.06 percent, while a year earlier - 0.05 percent,” the report said.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to over $21 billion in the first 10 months of this year, an annual decrease of 25.7 percent. More than $12.2 billion or 58.25 percent of the turnover fell on exports, and the remaining $8.8 billion or 41.75 percent - for imports.
