E-Space reveals volume of EVs registered in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

There are 2,422 registered electric vehicles (EVs) in Georgia as of October 2020, which is the best result per capita in the region, E-Space told Trend.

"Despite the crisis caused by COVID-19 and the decline in imports, the EV market is still growing and in the next 1-2 years this pace will accelerate even more," the company said.

According to the E-Space, there were 5 electric vehicles in Georgia in 2016.

"We started developing charging infrastructure in 2016 and at this stage, we have installed more than 150 charging stations (AC and DC), 85 of which are for public use," the source noted.

As the company noted, by the end of the year, AC chargers will serve customers for free, while DC chargers are paid. With the help of the created infrastructure, the number of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids is growing steadily.

E-Space dedicates to the support and promotion of electric vehicles in the country and the introduction and implementation of respective new technologies. E-Space is the only company to own and operate a public charging station network in Georgia. E-Space aims to install up to 100 public chargers, including several fast chargers on principal highways.
