Georgia sees increase in export of tangerines

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

Some 1,928 tons of tangerines were exported from Georgia in the amount of $941,000, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

This year, tangerines were mainly exported to the Russian Federation (899 tons). In addition, exports were also carried out to Ukraine, Moldova and Kazakhstan.

The harvest of tangerines in Georgia began on November 16.

Harvest forecast - up to 40,000 tons. The tangerine harvest in Georgia this year is small, but the quality has improved.

The appropriate headquarters is working to organize the harvest and placement. Custom tangerines are delivered, processed, controlled and registered electronically.

Up to 7,000 tons of non-standard tangerines are expected this year.

The volume of exports of tangerines during this period is 138 percent higher than the volume of exports in the same period in 2019, and the value of exports increased by $149,000.
