Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom sees threefold increase in profits

Profit of Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company has amounted to 90.6 billion tenge ($214.4 million) over 3Q2020 and to 156.6 billion tenge ($370.4 million) over 9M2020, Trend reports citing the financial statement of the company.

The statement said that 3Q2020 profit was nearly three times more than during the same period of 2020 (38.02 billion tenge or $89.9 million), whereas profit for 9M2020 was 10.3 percent more year-on-year as compared to 141.9 billion tenge during the same period last year ($335.7 million).

Furthermore, the company’s gross profit was 114.4 billion tenge over 3Q2020 ($270.7 million), which is double the profit of 3Q2019 (55.3 billion tenge or $130.8 million).

Gross profit for 9M2020 amounted to 178.2 billion tenge ($421.5 million) thus indicating an increase as compared to 102.2 billion tenge ($241.9 million) over the same period last year.

The company’s total assets have also amounted to 1.66 trillion tenge ($3.93 billion) as of Sept. 30, 2020, as compared to 1.67 trillion tenge ($3.95 billion) as of Dec. 31, 2020, indicating a 0.5-percent decrease over the reporting period.

Kazatomprom is the world's largest producer of uranium, with the company’s attributable production representing approximately 23 percent of global primary uranium production in 2018.

The company benefits from the largest reserve base in the industry and operates, through its subsidiaries, JVs, and Associates, 26 deposits grouped into 13 mining assets. All of the company’s mining operations are located in Kazakhstan.
