Ukraine is working on ensuring food security and stability in the Uzbek market, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ukraine told Trend.

Ministries and departments, chambers of commerce and industry, and business associations of Ukraine and Uzbekistan are actively working together to establish trade houses to boost bilateral trade. In this regard, intersectoral roadmaps are being prepared, and interregional cooperation is being actively implemented.

The ministry said that the cooperation between Ukraine and Uzbekistan is currently intensifying in almost all areas. The two countries have huge human, resource, and industrial potential.

“Ukraine is a recognized world leader in the agricultural industry. Therefore, Ukrainian-Uzbek cooperation in the field of agro-industry is an integral part of trade and economic bilateral relations,” the ministry added.

Currently, Ukraine is working on ensuring food security and stability in the Uzbek market, increasing production and supplies for the needs of Uzbekistan of cereals, sugar, meat, dairy products, and sunflower oil.

Commenting on COVID-19 impact on trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Uzbekistan, the ministry told that despite the coronavirus pandemic, Ukraine remains a reliable global business partner that ensures the uninterrupted supply of agricultural products to all continents, making a significant contribution to food security in the world.

“The pandemic has opened new opportunities for Ukrainian and Uzbek business. Video conferencing and online business talks have become common in bilateral relations. Bilateral business activities have not stopped, as evidenced by the growing trade turnover between Ukraine and Uzbekistan which amounted to $249.076.500 in 2020,” the ministry stressed.
