TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.30
Trend:
The Iranian government has decided to increase the annual budget for the Research and Innovation Organization of Iran's Ministry of Defense following the assassination of a top nuclear scientist, said Iran's Defense Minister.
"Although Research and Innovation Organization 's budget for next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2021) has already been increased, we have decided yesterday to double the budget," said Brigadier-General Amir Hatami, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"The cabinet members have taken the first step to follow the path of the martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the path in scientific and advanced fields would continue strongly," he said at the funeral ceremony on Monday.
"The enemy is fully aware that no crime, terror, or idiotic action would remain without response by the nation of Iran. We would certainly pursue perpetrators and they need to know that they would be punished for their actions," he said.
"I would ask Minister of Intelligence, commander of Revolutionary Guard Corps and commander of law enforcement and head of the judiciary to pursue and punish the perpetrators and planners of this crime," he noted.
According to Hatami, International institutions and governments that did not condemn this action should know that terrorists would become bolder.
"Iranian officials have constantly helped to fight against terrorist and confronting regional threats in Syria and Iraq alongside their nations and military forces and would continue doing so," he added.
Fakhrizadeh was assassinated on November 27 when a car bomb exploded near his vehicle and a number of terrorists opened fire on him afterward, according to Hatami's recent remarks.
