Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has activated many areas of research and launched new projects, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The activation of directions and the launch of new projects are facilitated by the transition of the Academy of Sciences to cost accounting in January 2020.
The main goals of the institute are to solve scientific and technical problems of complex processing of mineral, hydromineral, and hydrocarbon raw materials, as well as the introduction of new products into the chemical industry.
Thus, the analysis of the medicinal properties of plants and minerals shows that the Turkmen medical industry has great opportunities to expand the list of manufactured medicines and pharmaceutical products.
One of the latest developments in the mentioned direction is the disinfecting drug "Yodomal". As a result, chemists obtained a high-molecular compound that is not inferior in properties to polyvinyl alcohol.
The Institute of Chemistry is the only chemical research institute in Turkmenistan. It is responsible for solving scientific and technological problems related to the development of physical and chemical bases for complex processing of mineral, hydromineral, and hydrocarbon raw materials, training highly qualified specialists (candidates and doctors of science) for scientific and higher educational institutions of the country, as well as for the chemical industry of Turkmenistan.
