Azerbaijan's export to France down in 10M2020

The value of Azerbaijani products export to France for 10M2020 made up $83.3 million, down by 6.4 times year on year, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the bulletin, thus, the share of France in Azerbaijan’s total export decreased to 0.68 percent.

During the reporting period the import of French products to Azerbaijan amounted to $344.6 million, rising from $212.1 million recorded in 10M2019. The share of France in the total import of Azerbaijan increased from 1.85 percent (the indicator shown last year) to 3.93 percent.

The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries amounted to $427.9 million, which is 42 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France for the reporting period remained negative, equaling $261 million.

In general, from January through October 2020, the foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan made up over $21 billion, down by 25.7 percent year on year.

In May 2020, a joint webinar was held at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), the French Organization of Entrepreneurs (MEDEF), and the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Cooperation is underway between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the French oil company Total. It’s planned to implement such projects as exploration and development of the block of offshore fields ‘Umid’ and ‘Babek’.
