The Azerbaijani Az-Granata company plans to increase revenues from the export of pomegranate products to $7 million in 2021, Head of the Az-Granata export department Tural Hajiyev told Trend.

“Currently, the company is negotiating for export supplies to Sweden until the end of 2020. However, due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, the bulk of exports will fall in 2021,” said the department’s head.

“Export earnings to date have increased by 85 percent over the same period last year. The greatest demand was for wine products, pomegranate concentrate, pomegranate juice, vodka, cognac, and so on,” said the head of the department.

Hajiyev stressed that the largest export volumes of fruit juices fall on Russia and other neighboring countries.

In 2020, Az-Granata presented a new product - a pomegranate seed, which will also be exported in 2021.

Az-Granata plant, built-in 2011 and covering a 12.5 hectare-area, is one of the biggest producers of alcoholic beverages in the South Caucasus. Besides cognac and wine, the company produces liqueurs, vodka, as well as fruit juices.
