Iran discloses details of saffron exports

Iran exported 192 tons of saffron worth about $118 million during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

The official emphasized that Iranian saffron has been exported to 53 countries. About 84 percent the saffron in terms of value and 80 percent in terms of volume was exported to the five countries.

“Thus, Iran exported 53.1 tons of saffron worth $36.8 million to Hong Kong and 33.2 tons of saffron worth $21.6 million to Spain over the reporting period,” he added.

Latifi noted that at the same time, Iran exported 31.4 tons of saffron worth $18.7 million to United Arab Emirates, 18 tons worth $11.3 million to Afghanistan and 18.6 tons of saffron worth $10.8 million to China.

The spokesman said that moreover, Iran also exported $5.6 million worth of saffron to Oman, worth $2.7 million to Kuwait, worth $1.9 million to Qatar, worth $1.4 million to Macau and worth $1.2 million to Taiwan.

According to him, Iranian saffron has also been exported to Vietnam, France, Italy, Australia, Bahrain, Turkey, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Greece, the US, Kazakhstan and other countries.
