Georgia sees increase in tangerines export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec.29

Georgia exported 30.6 tons of tangerines worth 14.8 million from August 1 to December 27 compared to 23,122 tons last year, Trend reports via the Environment Protection and Agriculture Ministry.

As reported, the mandarin exports in the mentioned period went up 13 percent, while the value of exports increased by 7 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

According to the ministry, the main export countries are Russia (17.3 tons), Ukraine (6.6 tons).

Apart from the above-mentioned countries, exports were also made to Moldova, Slovenia, and Kazakhstan.

Harvest forecast - up to 40,000 tons. The tangerine harvest in Georgia this year is small, but the quality has improved.

The appropriate headquarters is working to organize the harvest and placement. Custom tangerines are delivered, processed, controlled, and registered electronically.

Up to 7,000 tons of non-standard tangerines are expected this year.
