Iran restores activity of mines in Zanjan Province

The activities of 32 mines were restored in the Zanjan Province (western Iran) during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Zanjan Province Nasser Faghfouri, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to the chairman, it was decided to be restored the activities of 43 mines in the Zanjan Province in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021).

“Moreover, the licenses have been issued for the launch of 13 mines in the province within 9 months. As a result of these licenses, 71 people were employed,” he said.

Faghfouri added that in general, 108 people are expected to be employed in the mining sector of the province in the current Iranian year.

There are 410 mines in Iran's Zanjan Province, of which 331 are operating. The reserves of the operating mines are more than 630 million tons. It is possible to be extracted 11.6 million tons of mining materials from these mines per year.

The Zanjan Province has a number of mining materials, including, granite, travertine, hematite and decorative stones, etc.
