Azerbaijan reduces persimmon exports

Azerbaijan exported 93,104 tons of persimmons from January through November 2020, Gadir Yusifov, Head of the Azerbaijan Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association, told Trend.

According to Yusifov, the volume of exports for the reporting decreased by about 21 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

In monetary terms, persimmon exports for this period made up $64.8 million, which is by $19.6 million less than a year earlier, he added.

Touching upon the topic of exports in 2021, Yusifov reminded that Azerbaijani persimmons will be exported to the markets of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

In May 2020, the first export delivery of persimmons from Azerbaijan to the UAE was carried out, he said.

The Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan was created in August 2017 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and with the support of the Ministry of Economy.

The main objectives of the association are to increase the production of competitive and export-oriented products, as well as increase persimmon exports. Income from exports in 2019 significantly exceeded revenues for 2018, amounting to $114 million.
