Azerbaijan exported 16,811 tons of hazelnuts worth nearly $103.3 million from January through November 2020, Chairman of the country's Hazelnut Producers and Exporters Association Ismayil Orujov told Trend.
"Last year, plans to export the products to Egypt, Pakistan and Italy were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we hope that in 2021 it will be possible to carry out the planned export," said Orujov. "During the period of the special quarantine regime, Azerbaijani hazelnuts were exported to Russia and some European countries, but there was a decline of 20 percent compared to the same period in 2019.”
The government's measures to promote the products to foreign markets under the brand ‘Made in Azerbaijan’ also contribute to a growth in the supply of hazelnuts, he summed up.
The association was registered in the Ministry of Justice of the country on October 31, 2016.
