Turkmen market - promising for dev’t of Russia's agricultural products supplies

Russia considers Turkmenistan as a promising direction for the development of agricultural supplies, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia told Trend.

"Some 11 export - oriented investment projects are planned to be implemented on Russian territory until 2024," the ministry said, adding that the Turkmen market is considered as a promising direction for the development of agricultural supplies for these projects.

The ministry also noted that Russia plans to expand the export of agricultural products to Turkmenistan in a number of areas. In particular, these are starch-based products, confectionery products, oatmeal, flour, oatmeal and multi-grain flakes, sour cream, cheese and cottage cheese products, ice cream, whole milk products, condensed milk, crab sticks, salmon caviar, canned fish products, soy and grain seeds, as well as poultry meat.

As of December 27, 2020, mutual trade in agricultural products and food between Russia and Turkmenistan amounted to $164.6 million, said the ministry.

As earlier the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told Trend, The trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan increased almost 2 times in 1H2020, compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to $87 million.

"The parties are systematically working to increase the volume and expand the range of agricultural products and food to the markets of both countries," the ministry added.
About 30 agreements were signed between the countries to develop trade and economic cooperation.

Trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan, which is the most important component of bilateral relations, is characterized by multidimensional and progressive development.
