By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The marble and granite processing plant in Akhal regions’ Gokdepe district of Turkmenistan manufactured products worth more than 9.6 million Turkmen manat ($2.7 million) in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

The plant also saw an increase in demand for marble products of different sizes and shapes made at the plant, used for finishing in the design of streets and sidewalks, as well as slabs for facing columns in the reporting period.

The company manufactures these products by order and supplies them to local markets.

The plant is one of the domestic industrial enterprises focused on the manufacture of marble products, as well as other types of products used for decorative and finishing works in construction.

The building materials industry is gaining momentum in Turkmenistan. A powerful construction cluster is being created in the Ovadandepe industrial zone of the Gokdepe district of Turkmenistan's Ahal region.

Among the products manufactured by the local construction, enterprises are the facing stone, cement, bricks, non-metallic building materials, metal structures, plastic, and fiberglass pipes.

Turkmenistan’s abundant natural resources allow increasing the production of expanded clay, the main component for which is mudstone, extracted at the Yagmansky field in the Balkan region.

The priority sphere of the building materials industry is the production of well cement for the oil and gas industry as well as the cement of various grades, including portland cement (sulfate-resistant cement), which is used in laying foundations, construction of bridge supports, and hydraulic structures.
