Georgia reveals volume of exported tangerines

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 18

Exports of tangerines from Georgian have increased by 22 percent year-on-year in the last six months and amounted to 35,400 tons, Trend reports via the Environment Protection and Agriculture Ministry.

As reported, export is bringing in $17.3 million which is a 16 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

Tangerines were exported mostly to Russia – 20,500 tons, Ukraine – 5,300 tons.

Georgian tangerines were also exported to Moldova, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, the US and Germany.

Harvest forecast - up to 40,000 tons. The tangerine harvest in Georgia this year is small, but the quality has improved.

The appropriate headquarters is working to organize the harvest and placement. Custom tangerines are delivered, processed, controlled, and registered electronically.

Up to 7,000 tons of non-standard tangerines are expected this year.
