Industrial enterprises put into operation in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province

In total, 138 industrial enterprises were put into operation in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020) at a cost of about 12.4 trillion rials (about $295 million), said Gholamreza Babaei, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The chairman stressed that about 2,320 people were employed with the launch of these enterprises.

He added that the amount of expenses on enterprises increased by 244 percent and employment by 92 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

According to Babaei, about 1,970 industrial enterprises are currently operating in the West Azerbaijan Province. A total of 69.5 trillion rials (about $1.65 billion) were spent on these enterprises and 56,100 people were employed.

The chairman also noted that furthermore, 1,100 enterprises have been licensed to be put into operation in the province over the past nine months, with the spending of 80.2 trillion rials (about $1.91 billion). As many as 21,900 people will be employed with the launch of these enterprises.

“At present, 2,510 industrial enterprises are under construction in the West Azerbaijan Province. So far, 189 trillion rials (about $ 4.5 billion) have been spent on these enterprises. About 56,000 people will be employed with the commissioning of the enterprises,” he said.
