Kazakhstan’s Kazakhmys Corporation has extracted 29.3 million tons of ore in 2020, which is a slight decrease as compared to 30.6 million tons in 2019, Trend reports citing the Corporation.
The Corporation said that the overall operation plan for 2020 was 0.76 percent overdone. The average copper content in ore mined in 2020 was 1 percent, against the target of 0.94 percent.
Furthermore, the Corporation’s refinery has processed 31.3 million tons of ore in 2020.
The overall cathode copper manufacturing amounted to 238,360 tons in 2020, which is 746 tons more than the plan and 12,436 tons more than in 2019 (an increase by 5.06 percent).
The gold in bullions production was 5,950 kg, which is 1,522 kg or 34.4 percent more than in 2019.
Manufacturing of silver ingots and granules amounted to 262,184 kg, which is 38,714 kg or 17.32 percent more than in 2019.
In 2021 the corporation is planning to manufacture 243,800 tons of copper in cathode equivalent.
Kazakhmys is the biggest copper producer in Kazakhstan, a leading international company in the sphere of mining and development of natural recourses. Copper operations are fully integrated from mining ore through to the production of finished copper cathode and rod.
Kazakhmys leads prospecting, exploration, mining, concentrating, processing, and export of copper and other minerals. Except of copper production, the company produces cathode copper, sulfuric acid, calcium sulphate, copper telluride and lead dust.
