Georgia decides to increase subsidies for flour

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 22

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The government of Georgia decided to increase subsidies for flour, Trend reports via Georgian media.

On the market, the cost of a 50 kg sack of first grade flour will not exceed 15 lari ($4.56).

The corresponding decision was the government of Georgia. At the same time, subsidies will apply to companies that have purchased at least 75 tons of flour over the past 90 days, or imported at least 140 tons.

The terms of the new subsidy system are from February 1 to March 31.

As reported, 10 million lari ($3.04 million) will be allocated for subsidies from the budget.

In general, the flour subsidy program began on December 1 and will continue until the end of March. Its purpose is to prevent an increase in bread prices in the face of an increase in the cost of grain on the international market.

Eight large companies won the tender for subsidies.
