The contribution to the GDP structure of the industrial sector of Turkmenistan amounted to 27.8 percent according to the results of the last year, said Turkmenistan' columnist Valentin Trapeznikov, Trend reports with reference to "SNG.Seqodna" (CIS.Today).

He noted that over the past year, the value of products manufactured in Turkmenistan has increased to 60 billion in the national currency (Turkmen manat).

Trapeznikov pointed out that most of the industrial product is formed by the enterprises of the fuel and energy sector. But a significant share was also made by the woodworking, light, and food industries, the production of building materials, the pharmaceutical industry, and the agro-industrial sector.

Private enterprises have significantly increased their product range in comparison with 2019 in Turkmenistan.

He also added that business representatives are actively involved in the implementation of significant national programs to replace imports and bring domestic products to foreign markets in Turkmenistan.

The expert emphasizes that, despite the difficulties due to the pandemic, the Turkmen economy demonstrates high-quality dynamics of development.

Turkmenistan is preparing a state program for the development of the digital economy from 2021 through 2025.

The adoption of the new program involves making changes and additions to existing legislative acts in the field of digitalization, defining tasks in order to create an electronic government system, improving digital education and healthcare, training personnel, as well as gradually placing digital services on a single portal of public services.

The action plan for the implementation of the program defines specific deadlines for the implementation of the tasks and their performers.
