Azerbaijan enters Russia’s TOP 5 grain importers

Russia exported 42,600 tons of grain to Azerbaijan from January 19 through January 25, 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Azerbaijan entered TOP five importers of grain from Russia.

"Russia exported 32.4 million tons of grain from July 1, 2020 through January 25, 2021, which is by 20.4 percent more than a year earlier (26.9 million tons),” the ministry said. “During the reporting period, wheat export reached 27.3 million tons (by 20.8 percent more), barley - 3.6 million tons (by 41 percent more), corn - 1.2 million tons (by 20.7 percent less), other grain crops - 0.3 million tons (by 47.6 percent more)."

Some 942,400 tons of grain were exported from January 19 through January 25, 2021. Some 806,900 tons of wheat, 81,400 tons of corn and 39,600 tons of barley were shipped abroad.

“Turkey became the main buyer (208,600 tons), Georgia (157,200 tons) ranked second, displacing Egypt, which closed the top three with 129,000 tons,” the ministry said. “TOP five also includes Sudan (66,000 tons) and Azerbaijan (42,600 tons).”

Egypt (5.9 million tons, 18 percent of export volume), Turkey (5.6 million tons, 17 percent), Saudi Arabia (2.1 million tons, six percent), Bangladesh (1.4 million tons, four percent), Azerbaijan (1.2 million tons, 4 percent) have become the biggest buyers since the beginning of the agricultural year.
