More than 30 large facilities were put into operation in Iran's industrial and mining sector at a cost of 1.3 quadrillion rials (about $30.9 billion) during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through January 20, 2021), Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Alireza Razm Hosseini said, Trend reports citing the IRIB.
He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of five large facilities in Zanjan Province.
The minister emphasized that 400 trillion rials (about $9.52 billion) worth of facilities can be put into operation in various sectors by the end of the current Iranian year (until March 21, 2021).
Razm Hosseini added that there are 837 enterprises operating in Iran's rubber industry and 148,000 people work in this area.
"There are 5,810 enterprises in the textile industry in Iran. About 220,000 people work in these enterprises," he said.
According to Razm Hosseini, Iran's iron ore reserves are estimated at 5 billion tons. The reserves are expected to be increased with new discoveries in this area.
The minister Iran is one of the main exporters of steel products and ranks 10th in the world.
On February 4, five large industrial facilities were put into operation in the Zanjan Province (western Iran). A total of 70 trillion rials (about $1.66 billion) were spent on the launched facilities and 1,760 people were employed.
