Number of trucks crossing through Iran's Jolfa border checkpoint revealed

In general, 49,800 Iranian and foreign trucks crossed through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), said Orujali Alizadeh, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Ministry.

Alizadeh stressed the number of trucks crossing the border within 11 months increased by 38 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that about 366,000 tons of goods were exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint over the 11 months.

The director general noted that moreover, 305,000 tons of goods were transited through this border checkpoint during the reporting period.

“A total of 1.16 million tons of goods were imported and exported through the border customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province via more than 127,000 trucks,” he said.

According to Alizadeh, at the same time, 372,000 tons of goods were transited through the border customs of the province.
