Kazakh airlines eye to launch several flights on Turkestan-Istanbul route

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 27

Kazakhstan’s airline companies are planning to launch international flights from newly-commissioned airport in the country’s Turkestan city, Trend reports citing the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

Thus, Air Astana company is planning to launch flights to Istanbul city of Turkey, which are to be carried out daily starting Mar. 2021.

Furthermore, the SCAT airline company is also looking to implement flights on Turkestan – Istanbul route two times a week.

Based on the results of the inspection carried out by the Civil Aviation Committee, by the Decree of Kazakhstan’s Government the airport of Turkestan city was assigned the status of an international airport by the Decree of Kazakhstan’s Government.

Currently, preparatory work is underway to launch the flights between the cities of Turkestan and Istanbul.

The construction of the airport in Turkestan was completed in the autumn of 2020. The first regular flight to the Turkestan airport was made on December 1, 2020.
