Two units for the production of technical iodine in Balkanabat iodine plant of Turkmenistan’s Balkan region are planned to be built, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.
The capacity of each of the installations will be 60 tons.
A corresponding tender was also announced for the construction of the above-mentioned units, the report says.
The production of technical iodine will increase by 2.3 times over the next seven years, while the volume of exports of this product will exceed one 1,000 tons in 2024 in Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen technical iodine is an important chemical product in the production of non-ferrous metals, synthetic rubber, paints, lacquers, combined feed, medicines and pure metal.
Turkmenistan is not limited to the extraction of elemental iodine and is actively expanding the range of iodine-derived products with high added value.
Turkmenistan has significant mineral reserves, hydromineral, mineral and hydrocarbon resources.
