The volume of banana harvesting is increasing in Turkmenistan’s Ferkhar company, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.
During the harvest season, about 70 tons of bananas were harvested in the greenhouse, which is 20 tons more than in the same period a year earlier.
In the near future, the volume of banana supplies from the Ferkhar greenhouse to the domestic market may significantly increase.
The supply may increase due to the consideration of leasing new areas for the expansion of the greenhouse economy, the report said.
The greenhouse is planting the 'Grand Nain' variety of bananas. So, from one tree with 6-meter length, 40-45 kilograms of bananas are collected daily.
First harvest of bananas was held last year in the same greenhouse, where almost 50 tons of bananas were collected.
There are other exotic fruits growing in Turkmenistan. For example, in the greenhouse of the Turkmen Agricultural University, fruits of exotic papaya were cultivated.
