Iran's imports shrink

Iran's imports decreased by 14.9 percent in terms of value and 6.2 percent in terms of volume during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), the director general of the Trade Information Services Department of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Abbas Khalegitabar said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to Khalegitabar, Iran imported 30.8 million tons of goods worth $34.3 billion within 11 months.

“Furthermore, Iran's imports amounted to $3.68 billion in the 11th month (January 20 through February 18, 2021), which is a decrease of 2.6 percent in terms of value and 20.5 percent in terms of volume compared to the 10th month (December 21, 2020 through January 19, 2021),” he added.

The director general noted that Iran imported goods mainly from China, the UAE, Turkey, India and Germany, which accounted for 72 percent of Iran's total imports.
