Kazakhstan is among the top 20 countries regarding Iran's exports, so it is necessary to increase trade turnover with this country, the Chairman of the Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Chamber of Commerce Amir Abedi said, Trend reports citing the IRNA.
He made the remark in an acquaintance webinar on the markets of Iran and Kazakhstan.
Abedi noted that Iran's trade with Kazakhstan is very low. However, Kazakhstan is the second largest country in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in terms of economy. It is also located on the Silk Road.
The chairman added that Iranian companies are ready to participate in various sectors of Kazakhstan, including agriculture, mining and construction.
“A direct flight will be organized between the Kazakhstan’s Aktau city and the Iran’s Gorgan city in the near future,” he said.
According to Abedi, this could lead to the development of trade relations between the northern provinces of Iran and Kazakhstan.
The official emphasized that the permanent exhibition of the Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Chamber of Commerce will be opened in Aktau city in the next Iranian year (as of March 21, 2021).
According to the report of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI), the trade turnover between Iran and Kazakhstan amounted to 367,000 tons worth $182 million during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through February 18, 2021).
So, Iran exported 279,000 tons of goods worth $146 million to Kazakhstan and imported 87,700 tons of goods worth $35.7 million from Kazakhstan over the reporting period.
