Volume of oil products loaded, unloaded in Iranian ports declines

The volume of oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 19 percent during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Ravanbakhsh Behzadian, director general of the department on port issues of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Trend reports citing the PMO’s website.

According to Behzadian, more than 75 million tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded in the Iranian ports over the reporting period.

"In addition, 80.4 million tons of non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within 11months, which is a decrease of 24 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year," he added.

The director general stressed that a total of 155 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the first 11 months. This is a decrease of 22 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Behzadian noted that at the same time, 7.3 million tons of products remained in the warehouses of Iranian ports. About 3.8 million tons of these products are essential products. So, wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar and vegetable oil are essential products stored in the warehouses.
