Iran boosts red meat production

The red meat production in Iran increased by 43 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 20 through February 18, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.

According to the statistics, a total of 42,000 tons of red meat were produced in Iran in the 11th month.

The production of mutton increased by 33 percent, goat meat – by 25 percent, beef and veal – by 54 percent, buffalo meat – by 92 percent, while camel meat production decreased by 9 percent over the 11th month, the statistics said.

"About 57.3 percent of red meat produced in Iran accounted for beef and veal. So, 24,100 tons of beef and veal were produced in Iran over the 11th month," the statistics said.

According to the statistics, in addition, 14,500 tons of mutton and 2,500 tons of goat meat were produced in Iran during the reporting month. The mutton and goat meat accounted for 34.5 percent and 6 percent of red meat production in Iran, respectively.

Furthermore, 918 tons of other animal meat were produced in Iran within the 11th month, which accounted for 2.2 percent of total red meat production, the statistics said.

"The red meat production in Iran in the 11th month increased by 4 percent compared to the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 21, 2020 through January 19, 2021)," the statistics said.
