Germany, EU develop SME Development Strategy and Action Plan for Georgia

Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, took part in an online meeting dedicated to the development of a new strategy for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Georgia for 2021-2025 and an action plan for 2021-2022, Trend reports via the ministry,

"For the development of small and medium-sized (SME) production in the field of agriculture, it is important to correctly assess the prospects, needs and expectations that exist in this area. I think that the new strategy will help us develop small and medium-sized businesses, as well as certain areas of agriculture, at a faster pace and create opportunities that will help Georgia become a net exporter of agricultural products," Khanishvili said.

The SME Development Strategy and Action Plan for Georgia 2021-2025 are being developed with the support of the European Union and the German government and in close cooperation with the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

At this stage, the working group is actively working on finalizing and adjusting the action plan.

The online meeting was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, OECD and GIZ.

The event was attended by members of the Board of Directors and the working group, representatives of international donor organizations and experts created to develop a new strategy for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Georgia for 2021-2025.
