Russia’s Stavropolsky Dairy Plant supplied lactose to the foreign markets for the first time in 2020, Trend reports with a reference to the Agroexport Federal State Budgetary Institution under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Two trial consignments of 1.5 tons were shipped to Georgia and Azerbaijan.

"Lactose is a highly processed product,” head of the innovative project department of Stavropolsky Dairy Plant Ivan Artamonov told Agroexport. “We first began to produce this innovative product in 2019 as part of an investment project implemented through the state support. We exported the first batches in 2020."

“The plant plans to continue to supply lactose this year,” Artamonov added. "The economic situation for many clients remains difficult, but the contracts have been signed, there are plans."

“Lactose is a promising export product,” the head of the innovative project department of Stavropolsky Dairy Plant said. “Although import dependence has not yet been overcome in Russia, nevertheless, lactose which is produced domestically is competitive on the foreign markets.”

“The products of Stavropolsky Dairy Plant were exported to the US in 2020,” head of the innovative project department of Stavropolsky Dairy Plant said. “Glazed curd, ice cream, curd were supplied to this market. Moreover, they ordered “Korovka ” sweets with prebiotic-pectin (sweetened condensed milk).”

“These sweets won the National Priority Award in 2020 and reviews from the US about them were also positive," Artamonov said.
