BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 5

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Romania is closely following the reconstruction effort in Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian occupation, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.

The Ministry noted that currently it is trying to get an accurate picture of this complex process.

"Azerbaijan has already started to implement some strategic projects in the region, and others will surely be launched. Naturally, the main tasks for the moment are related to clearing and de-mining the territories, making them safer for people to live, to work and to travel,” the ministry said.

The Ministry also said it is aware that the Government of Azerbaijan is carrying out a complex assessment of the damages and the needs for reconstruction.

"These findings would be extremely useful, in order for interested companies to make their own, profit-based assessments,” the ministry said.

Following over a month of military action to liberate its territories from Armenian occupation from late Sept. to early Nov. 2020, Azerbaijan has pushed Armenia to sign the surrender document. A joint statement on the matter was made by the Azerbaijani president, Armenia's PM, and the president of Russia.

A complete ceasefire and a cessation of all hostilities in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was introduced on Nov. 10, 2020.
