Kazakhstan boosts exports to Afghanistan despite COVID-19

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan amounted to $35.6 million in January 2021, compared to $26.9 million during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The share of Afghanistan in the total value of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover stood at 0.6 percent during the reporting period, compared to 0.4 percent during the same period of 2020.

Kazakhstan’s export to Afghanistan amounted to $35.3 million in January 2021, compared to $26.6 million during the same period of 2020.

Afghanistan’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s export amounted to less than 1.1 percent during the reporting period of 2021, compared to 0.6 percent during the same period of 2020.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from Afghanistan amounted to nearly $316,315 over the reporting period, compared to $327,165 during the same period of 2020.

Afghanistan’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s imports amounted to 0.013 percent during the reporting period of 2021, compared to 0.012 percent during the same period of 2020.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $5.6 billion in January 2020 which indicates a decrease from $7.06 billion during the same period of 2020.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $3.2 billion during the reporting period of 2021 ($4.5 billion in the same period of 2020), whereas imports amounted to $2.4 billion ($2.5 billion in 2020).

During the reporting period, the main articles of Kazakhstan-Afghanistan trade turnover were food products, agricultural products, as well as products of the chemical industry.
